Alan Ratcliffe was born in Derby on February 06, 1927 and died on March 18, 2009. He is much loved and will always be remembered by his many friends and family. A very clever man of extreme intelligence with two degrees in Engineering and Mathematics plus a member of MENSA he was crippled eventually by Parkinsons Disease. Having fought to keep it at bay for over 15 years, my Dad was the longest known patient of this cruel disease in Derby at least. Father of two, Melanie and Mandy, and grandfather to Paul, Zoe, Kylie, Jodie-Marie & Lisa, he married again having lost our mother, Mary Kathleen, to pneumonia following a 10.5 year illness started by a Cerebral Haemmorhage. His extended family reside in Newcastle upon Tyne where his second wife moved back to after his death. Now reunited with Mary and Hilda (his mother, our Grandmother)and Thomas (father, grandfather) Rest In Peace Dad...Love YA!!!
